Well, in terms of getting the "full" experience of an email you certainly require a laptop/PC. Trying to open a zip file attached to an email is next to impossible on an ipad, or even on an iphone if I remember correctly. I have since moved on to android, but the point is that certain things are still tough on mobile.

But, its still the most convenient form of accessing emails, as long as the emails are designed for mobile.

I can definitely see this statistic increasing because of a couple factors:

1. Technology-Humans are getting better and better at making Internet-connected things on smaller devices
2. Consumer pressure-Customers are comfortable with phones and want constant access to their email

These two factors will drive more marketers to mobile marketing, which will do two things: 1) Drive the quality of mobile marketing up-to stay competitive and 2) Make mobile marketing crowded-as everyone jumps into the party.

Same pattern as other forms of marketing (social media, etc.), but differen platform.

It's hard to believe how quickly this all happened. I have a old blog that I haven't posted in for ages. The other day I went and took a look at the stats out of curiosity. Four years ago I didn't have one hit from one mobile device. Now days half the hit's I still get are from mobile devices.
This can't be ignored, when sending e-mails make sure they are mobile friendly.

I feel without a doubt that this information is true. With technology being out our fingertips 24/7 we are expected to be able to replay to a email at almost anytime of the day. I find myself answering emails at 2am sometimes. The smartphone just makes things such as email as normal and sometimes almost as informal as text messages can be which is not always a good trend.

This is all the more reason to optimise your emails for mobile phone compatibility. This is achieved by writing shorter emails. Many people are on the move and might not be in possession of computers and laptops which are more expensive and bulky. Emails can be opened on both feature and smartphones.

That is amazing that that was only four years ago. Imagine what another 4 years will bring us!

Yeah I've had a similar experience. More people are using mobile devices to read my blog, and even more people are using alternative mobile browsers to access content.

Well you have to remember that that's on average, online workers, people with lots of stuff going through their email, etc, might just find it more convenient to check while listening to music, browsing, etc.

Yeah, a lot of college students use email to communicate amongst them when it comes to a variety of projects, surveys and campaigns too. And they are more than likely to use email on mobile.
